Extra support when you need it

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard

JFK offers Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyards  to travelers with non-visible disabilities such as autism, PTSD, hearing loss, or chronic conditions. Wearing a lanyard is a simple way to let airport staff know you may need a little extra help, time, or understanding during your journey.

Lanyards are free and available at Information Centers in the Arrivals area of each terminal, pre-security.

  • Hours: 6 AM to midnight ET
  • Terminal 4 International Information Center: Open 24 hours

A lanyard can also be mailed to you. To request a
Sunflower Lanyard in advance of your trip, please complete this form opens in a new tab

Requests must be sent a minimum of 14 days before travel. Lanyards can only be mailed to domestic addresses. We cannot guarantee that the lanyard will arrive in time for your trip.

Participation is completely voluntary. The lanyard does not provide priority access or skip-the-line privileges, but staff will do their best to support you.

Sensory Rooms

For our travelers who may feel overwhelmed by the busy airport setting, including neurodivergent individuals and people with sensory sensitivies, sensory spaces offer a quiet, low-stimulation environment.

We're excited to offer these spaces in the near future!
