Transferring Between Airports Guide
Connecting flights at another airport
Sometimes your trip may involve arriving at one New York airport and departing from another. For example, you might fly into LaGuardia (LGA) from St. Paul, Minnesota, and then depart from JFK on an international flight.
If this applies to you:
- Be sure to check your itinerary carefully when booking.
- Leave plenty of time to travel between airports — especially during rush hour or holidays.
You will need to:
- Collect your checked bags at your arrival airport.
- Travel to the next airport (by public transit, taxi, or with a rideshare).
- Check in and check your bags with your departing airline.
- Go through TSA security again.
